Romans 8:26 (KJV)
Romans 8:26 (KJV)

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.  Romans 8:26

Wisdom Corner

A Prayer for Self - Change and Guidance

     O Lord tell us what to do.  We do not have the insight, the knowledge or the wisdom to handle life on our own.  We are so often conditioned by err and mistake.  We humbly ask you to take our life and make it what it ought to be.  Hear our prayers that something wonderful will happen.

     Grant, O Lord, that there may be within us a deep desire to be truly different, better than we have ever been before.  May this change take place in us now.  Please bless us with healing, peach, faith, love, goodness and dynamic life.  For this we give thanks.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

All In The Family

     Bill Keane, creator of the Family Circus cartoon strip, tells of a time when he was penciling one of his cartoons and his son Jeffy asked, "Daddy, how do you know what to draw?"  Keane replied, "God tells me."  Jeffy said, "Then why do you keep erasing part of it?"

The New Year

     The man who goes into the new year without some priorities governing his life and without some principles guiding his behavior, is prey to the tempting, unimportant and destructive things in life.
     The new year is an opportunity to sort out the useless tasks and plan for the important; to review the failures and resolve to be successful: to take an inventory of causes and pledge life to purpose and service.  These being done, the new will truly be new, different and better.

What is The Beloved Community of God?

It is a community where no one is left out,
where the word is indeed our parish,
where the deepest hopes and yearnings, and cries are heard,

where we rejoice in every sign of God's kingdom;
in the upholding of humor, dignity and community;
in every expression of love, justice and reconciliation;
in each act of self-giving on behalf of others;
in the abundance of God's gifts entrusted to us that all
may have enough.  Glory to God!

     Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from depths of the earth you will again bring me up.   Psalms 71:20

God's Purpose

     God is working his purpose out as year succeeds to year, God is working his purpose out and the time is drawing near;

     Nearer and nearer draws the time, the time shall surely be,

     When the earth shall be fill'd with the glory of God as the waters cover the sea.
